As protests in Greece moved into their 12th day on Thursday, demonstrators called for a day of protest across Europe. On Wednesday before they draped a large banner, with "Resistance" in different languages, on the world-famous Acropolis.

There are two marches planned for Thursday, the first will bring students together while the second is to protest at an EU immigration agreement.

Early on Thursday a school student was wounded by a bullet in front of a school in the west of Athens, police said. The injury was slight, the boy was hit on the hand, and it is not known who shot him.

On Wednesday evening, members of a Communist-led trade union marched in the capital while Thursday is to see work-stoppages and marches by the civil service trade union.

Violence continued on Wednesday with demonstrators launching molotov cocktails at police headquarters.
