For the 40th anniversary of Fespaco, RFI will once again be broadcasting and reporting from the Burkinabé capital, Ouagadougou, throughout the festival, from Saturday 28 February to Saturday 7 March.

We’ll also be awarding the fifth RFI Audience Prize, which has existed since 2001 and which went to Burkina Faso’s S Pierre Yaméogo in 2005 for Moi et mon blanc.

This year the public can vote by SMS for their favourite film and the winner will be announced during Fespaco’s closing ceremony.

As well as bringing you reports from our studio in Ouagadougou, RFI will be recording programmes from outside the studio, in the city square.

Two of our French-language programmes will be broadcast from Ouagadougou’s Place de la Nation, with hosts Juan Gomez and Claudy Siar.

Aidan O'Donnell will be reporting in English in our radio broadcasts and on the website.

As well as radio reports and articles on this website, you’ll also find a photo log updated daily and videos of what we’re doing in Ouagadougou.

Festival coverage is also available in the Fespaco dossier of our parallel French-language site.
