Nigeria detains ukrainian plane

Nigerian military officials have detained a Ukrainian aircraft carrying crates of arms. The aircraft made an emergency landing in the city of Kano, due to a technical problem. It was reportedly on route to Equatorial Guniea. .

Gen. M. D. Abubakar, Commanding Officer of the Army in Kano confirmed the story to Radio France Internationale.

 Earlier this year, authorities in Equatorial Guinea arrested a number of people in connection with an attack on the presidential palace in Malabo . President Teodore Obiang Nguema, later dismissed several government ministers after the attack.

Last year, a former British army office, Simon Mann, was sentenced to 34 years in jail for plotting to overthrow the president, who has been in power since 1979.
