The agreement follows negotiations between the government, the public and private employers’ associations and the general workers union (UGTA).
The Snmg will go up from 12,000 to 15,000 dinars (120 to 150 euros) per month and will come into effect on 1 January 2010.
President Abdelaziz Bouteflika had promised a re-evaluation of the Snmg when he was elected for his third term in office in April with over 90 per cent of the vote.
He also promised a five-year development plan that would create three million jobs and build a million homes, this at a cost of 115 billion euros.
