Two suspects are being held in connection with the Angolan rebel attack on the Togolese football team, Angolan police announced today. The two were captured Friday, one a few minutes after the attack, and the other while he was trying to cross the border into Republic of Congo.

Police say that the suspects were among a group of five rebels who launched the attack on the bus on Friday.

The Togolese team was on its way into Cabinda from the Democratic Republic of Congo when they were shot at, killing assistant coach Amalete Abalo and the team's media spokesman Stanislas Ocloo.

Nine people were injured in the attack, including second goalie Kodjovi Obilale, who was flown to South Africa for surgery.

The team left Angola yesterday after pulling out of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

Cabinda has been the site of a long-running independence battle in Angola.
