Bélo Wins RFI’s “Découvertes” Award

Haitian Music Comes Out on Top

Bélo, a talented singer, songwriter and composer from Haiti, triumphed at RFI’s “Découvertes” award ceremony staged in Douala, Cameroon, this year. Before stepping up to receive his award, Belo wowed the jury at the St John Plazza with a brilliant set, as did the two runners-up: Patrick Ruffino (from Benin) and Lang’i (from Congo Brazzaville).


It proved to be a long night, full of expectation and suspense, for the three finalists involved in Radio France Internationale’s 2006 “Découvertes” award.
