Making the experience and knowledge base of rfi professionals available to foreign radio stations, whether they are public or private, is the mission of the International Training service of rfi.
Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Europe or Latin America, all over the world our teams are providing training and advice in all of the languages spoken on our airwaves, most often in French, English, Spanish, Portuguese and Arabic.
Our philosophy with trainings is based on gaining practical radio techniques which arise from the participants’ professional environment. To enable this approach, groups are generally limited to 6 to 10 people per trainer, and our trainers are all specialists in their area, with a deep knowledge of the socio-political environments and the working conditions of the participants.
Our training service is renowned for its reactivity and its ability to respond to a wide range of requests and backgrounds, and offers “made to measure” modules at the request of the purchasers, who currently come from throughout the industry. This way of working enables us to stay abreast of world changes and our partners’ needs.
The trainings most often requested include:
“Putting Together Election Coverage”; “Improving how we provide balanced reporting in crisis zones”; the module “Radio Design” on station image; “Producing and presenting interactive programmes”; “Improving Health” or “Sports Journalism”; “The use and maintenance of equipment”; “Improving local radio”; “voice training”…
We cover all types of career within radio, from the technical to theoretical, via the management of internet sites, and are taught by rfi radio professionals.
Our trainings are carried out in workshop-based sessions at your location (this is the format we recommend), and if necessary in courses in Paris.
We also produce a series of manuals which are provided to course members.
Thanks to the internet and e-learning, we are looking at a new style of training between our International Training service and the participants from our radio partners.
rfi’s International Training service works together with both the public and private radio stations of Africa, the Middle East, Europe, Asia and Latin America. Our operations are financed by such funding bodies as:
- The French Public Sector
- The European Union
- Non-Governmental Organisations and foundations
- The Private Sector
- The radio stations themselves
