Michael Phelps won the ninth Olympic title of his career on Tuesday when he took the 200m freestyle. He broke the world record - his third record at these Games, after three races. There were medals awarded in diving, judo, wrestling, weightlifting and fencing.

In the men's 200m freestyle, Michael Phelps went straight into the lead and then increased it on each length. He finished in 1' 42.96", breaking the world record by nine tenths of a second. The silver medal went to South Korea's Park Tae-Hwan with another American, Peter Vanderkay, taking the bronze.
