The two track finals that wrapped up Wednesday's competition both went to Jamaica. Usain Bolt destroyed the field to win the men's 200m in a world record time of 19.30. Silver went to Churandy Martina of the Dutch Antilles while Shawn Crawford of the US took third place.

Another Jamaican, Melaine Walker won gold in the women's 400m hurdles ahead of the US's Sheena Tosta and Tasha Danvers of the UK.

This brings Jamaica's gold medal haul to four, after Bolt and Shelly-Ann Fraser took one each in the men's and women's 100m respectively.

The last athlete to take the 100m and 200m double was Carl Lewis, in the 1984 Games.

Bolt will celebrate his 22nd birthday on Thursday.
