This weekend a scientific demonstration, the "Cosmic Opera", was launched in Paris. It is showing the presence of a certain particle in the atmosphere. Every time a muon particle falls to earth, a laser beam shoots across the night sky from the Paris Observatory to the Montparnasse tower. At the top of the tower scientists from France's Astroparticle Cosmology Centre are explaining to the public how the study of tiny particles can tell us more about huge phenomena like the Big Bang or the expansion of the universe.
