The trial in Iran of French researcher Clotilde Reiss was postponed again following a three-hour hearing on Wednesday. Reiss was arrested during protests against the outcome of presidential elections in June.

"The final part of pleadings concerning the accusations against the French citizen will be made at the next hearing," said her lawyer Mohammed Ali Mahdavi Sabet, without elaborating or giving a date.

He said that, during Wednesday's hearing, "part of the defence was presented to the court, and I...answered several questions of the judge."

Reiss was arrested in the wake of the protests that followed Iran’s disputed 12 June presidential election, shortly before she was due to fly home after a six-month study and teaching visit to Isfahan.

She was accused of supporting the opposition protests and remanded in custody in Tehran's notorious Evin jail. She was bailed in August and has been staying at the French embassy in Tehran.
