France has been upping the pressure on Iran to release Clothilde Reiss, a French student who has accused of taking part in post-election protests in June. Franco-Iranian relations, generally smooth, have been tense since President Nicolas Sarkozy said there had been electoral fraud in Iran. Reiss' supporters say she did nothing wrong, but Iran may be using her as a pawn to extract an apology from France.
