A UN-backed operation in the eastern DRC - Kimia II - has been suspended amid reports of war crimes by the Congolese army. Its purpose was to disarm the brutal FDLR (Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda) militant group. The UN peacekeeping mission, MONUC, claims the offensive met most objectives.
